Royal Palms is in for a quick change of eras. Sanjay Leela Bhansali wraps the final song sequence of Love & War at the venue next week, and the same floor is then slated to be rebuilt for a biopic on Madhubala, Mid-Day reports. Sara Arjun headlines the film.
There is little slack between the two shoots. Crews handling the biopic’s production design will likely move in the moment Bhansali’s current schedule clears.
“After the ‘Love & War’ shoot concludes at the end of August, the production design team of the Madhubala biopic will start work on transforming the space. The film is expected to roll in September,” an industry insider told the publication.
Directing duties rest with Jasmeet K Reen, whose Darlings released in 2022.
The film — still without a title — had stalled at one point, with money troubles reportedly to blame.
Bhansali’s arrival as producer restored its momentum. Its lead, meanwhile, has already begun her homework.
“Sara has started preparing for the role. Jasmeet wants to capture Madhubala’s personality, mannerisms, and the world she inhabited,” the source further added.
Wider audiences came to Arjun through the Dhurandhar franchise, where she appeared as Yalina Jamali, the female lead, cast opposite Ranveer Singh’s Hamza Ali Mazari.
As Love & War winds down, the spotlight shifts to what Bhansali backs next: a portrait of one of Hindi cinema’s most recognised faces, built around her life, her personality and the era she belonged to.
