The creators of ‘Aakhri Sawal’, headlined by Sanjay Dutt, have announced that the film will premiere in cinemas on May 15, 2026. The confirmation has heightened anticipation surrounding the project.
The filmmakers unveiled a striking poster on social media while confirming the release date.
In the accompanying caption, they stated, “The question India never stopped asking. Get ready to know the answer on 15th May only in cinemas, signalling the film’s central theme.”
The film brings together a strong cast, including Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, Sameera Reddy, Tridha Choudhury, and Neetu Chandra alongside Sanjay Dutt. National Award recipient Abhijeet Mohan Warang directs the film.
Warang began his directorial journey with the Marathi film ‘Picasso’ in 2021, which earned him a Special Mention at the 67th National Film Awards. He has since directed several notable projects across Marathi and Hindi cinema, including ‘Deja Vu’, ‘Prem Pratha Dhumshan’, ‘Piccolo’, and the short film ‘Virtual Reality’.
‘Aakhri Sawal’ draws from a true story that traces the century-long journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, established in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. The film centres on a defining meeting that played a key role in shaping the nation’s trajectory, offering insights beyond standard historical narratives.
The storyline emphasises the principle of selfless service to the nation and aims to bring forward perspectives that have largely remained unexplored. It also seeks to address the curiosity among young audiences about the organisation, known for maintaining a reserved public presence.
Nikhil Nanda and Dhanraj Nathwani present the film. Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt produce the project, while Puneet Nanda, Dr Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey, and Ujjwal Anand contribute as co-producers.
With its compelling subject and experienced cast, ‘Aakhri Sawal’ is expected to capture audience interest as its release date approaches.
