Sachet–Parampara Demand Public Apology From Amaal Mallik Over ‘Bekhayali’ Claims

Music duo Sachet–Parampara have called out composer Amaal Mallik for allegedly making ‘false and baseless’ claims about the origin of the 2019 hit song ‘Bekhayali’ from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s blockbuster Kabir Singh.

In an Instagram video, the duo insisted that they created the song entirely during sessions with the Kabir Singh team, including Shahid Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. They stated that every melody, composition, arrangement, and lyric was their original work.

Sachet–Parampara expressed their frustration over Amaal Mallik repeatedly asserting that the composition resembled one of his earlier tunes, insisting that these claims are ‘without merit’ and ‘damage their reputation’.

Evidence and Timeline Presented

The duo shared chat exchanges with Amaal Mallik and the Kabir Singh team to substantiate their claims, emphasising that Mallik had previously congratulated them on the song’s release. They questioned his recent allegations, asking for proof to back his statements and demanding a public apology.

Parampara said, “No matter what song it is, please don’t claim that our song is yours. It will not be tolerated, and we will send a legal notice if necessary.”

They stressed that their work, including other tracks like Har Har Mahadev, is entirely original.

Sachet–Parampara criticised Amaal Mallik for allegedly defaming them on social media and warned against targeting outsiders in the industry. They highlighted that while they may not get every film project, they accept it in good faith and focus on improving their craft rather than discrediting others.

“Sometimes, there are many films that we don’t get, we take it in a good spirit and work harder,” the duo said, urging the composer to present factual claims or retract false statements.

The controversy underscores tensions in the Bollywood music industry, where disputes over song ownership and originality continue to draw public attention.
