Rohit Shetty Denies Do Aur Do Paanch Link To Golmaal 5

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has responded to rumours surrounding his upcoming project Golmaal 5. He clarified that the film has no association with the classic Hindi movie Do Aur Do Paanch.

The clarification follows widespread reports suggesting that the comedy was inspired by the 1980 release.

On Monday, Shetty’s team released an official note on Instagram, criticising certain sections of the media for spreading incorrect information.

The statement categorically denied all claims linking Golmaal 5 to Do Aur Do Paanch in any form.

The team noted, “We wish to issue a strict clarification regarding certain news reports currently circulating across online and digital media platforms claiming that Golmaal 5 is inspired by or based on the film ‘Do Aur Do Paanch’. We categorically state that these reports are factually incorrect, misleading and completely untrue. We strongly request all media houses, publications, portals, and digital platforms to refrain from publishing or circulating unverified information.”

The statement further emphasised “Any news, update or clarification pertaining to Rohit Shetty or Golmaal 5 must be verified with us or the official PR representatives, prior to publication or Strict Legal action will be taken. We expect your cooperation in maintaining journalistic accuracy and responsibility. We also request that incorrect reports currently in circulation be corrected or taken down at the earliest.”

The Golmaal series continues to enjoy immense popularity and is set to achieve a rare milestone with its fifth instalment. It also becomes only the second Indian film franchise, after Housefull, to reach five films.

The franchise is also poised to complete 20 years in 2026, underscoring its lasting appeal with audiences.

About Do Aur Do Paanch

Released in 1980, Do Aur Do Paanch featured Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Parveen Babi and also Kader Khan in key roles.

The story revolved around two small-time criminals who disguised themselves as school teachers to kidnap a wealthy businessman’s son, only to abandon their plan after forming emotional bonds.

With this clarification, Rohit Shetty has, however, reaffirmed that Golmaal 5 remains an original instalment within his long-running comedy franchise.
