Samuel L Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury in Avengers: Secret Wars, returning for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s multiverse saga finale.
The actor has confirmed that his character will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
Jackson revealed the news during a red-carpet interview with The Direct at the premiere of his film The Beast.
Asked about his next Marvel appearance, the actor indicated that audiences would see him in the film following Doomsday. He admitted that Marvel Studios had not shared the upcoming film’s storyline with him.
Jackson first appeared as Nick Fury in the post-credit scene of Iron Man (2008). Since then, Fury has played a central role in connecting Marvel’s superheroes and assembling the Avengers.
The actor’s most recent MCU film appearance was in The Marvels (2023), where he continued his work with the SABER space station.
Fury’s return could reconnect the multiverse storyline with the character who helped bring many of Earth’s mightiest heroes together. Marvel has not revealed his specific role in Secret Wars.
Any involvement in the conflict surrounding Doctor Doom, Battleworld or the formation of a new Avengers team remains speculation, as the studio has yet to disclose the film’s plot details.
Marvel has scheduled Avengers: Doomsday for December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Joe and Anthony Russo will direct both films.
Jackson’s confirmation offers an early indication of Fury’s place in Marvel’s upcoming plans, although audiences will have to wait for further announcements about the cast, storyline and character appearances in Secret Wars.
