Renowned Bollywood director Mohit Suri, celebrated for his works such as Aashiqui 2, Zeher, Kalyug, Ek Villain, and Murder 2, has expressed a profound belief that music surpasses the longevity of films.

In a recent episode of The Music Podcast, Suri shared his insights, highlighting the enduring impact of music on audiences.

“Music is way bigger than a film,” Suri stated.

“I feel that films are part of the music industry. A watchman on night duty listens to music to stay awake. Music puts a toddler to sleep. He doesn’t understand films, but he understands music.”

Suri’s impeccable sense of music has undeniably contributed to the success of his films at the box office.

The original soundtracks of his movies, including hits from Awarapan, Murder 2, and Kalyug, have consistently topped the charts, cementing his reputation as a director with an exceptional track record in film music.

The director further elaborated on the integral relationship between music and filmmaking.

“In the film industry, people who have a great sense of music automatically have a sharp eye for editing and storytelling. Like music, a narrative also functions on beats, and catching the right beat comes only from an acute sense of music.”

Suri emphasized the universal nature of music, noting its mathematical patterns and widespread appeal.

“A country may not have a film industry, but someone in that country is somewhere playing music that connects with people,” he added.

Mohit Suri’s films are not just known for their compelling narratives but also for their memorable soundtracks, which continue to resonate with listeners long after the credits roll.

His perspective underscores the timeless and universal power of music in connecting with audiences across different walks of life.
