Akshay Kumar paid an emotional tribute to veteran actor Asrani, recalling the opportunity to work with the celebrated performer in Priyadarshan’s upcoming film ‘Haiwaan’.
The actor described it as his ‘good fortune’ to have shared the screen with Asrani and witnessed what he believed was the actor’s final shot.
Sharing a video clip from the film on Instagram, Akshay Kumar wrote, “My good fortune that I got to work with this legend and see him give his last ever shot in Haiwaan. Miss you Asrani ji…there can be no one like you. 🙌🫡”

The clip shows Asrani in a comic sequence involving two police constables. His character gives humorous replies when questioned about his identity, marriage and children, bringing out the veteran actor’s trademark comic timing.
Asrani died on October 20, 2025, aged 84. He had a career spanning more than five decades and appeared in over 350 films, becoming one of Hindi cinema’s most recognisable character actors.
‘Haiwaan’, directed by Priyadarshan, marks Asrani’s final film appearance. The actor reportedly completed his work on the project just five to six days before his death.
Known for his distinctive humour and memorable supporting roles, Asrani remained a familiar presence across generations of Hindi film audiences. His performances in numerous films established him as one of the industry’s most enduring character actors.
Kumar’s tribute comes as ‘Haiwaan’ prepares to bring Asrani’s final performance to audiences, adding significance to the veteran actor’s appearance in the film.
