Prabhas's 'Kalki 2898 AD' Roars With Over 2 Lakh Ticket Sales
“Kalki 2928 AD,” starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, had a spectacular opening at the box office, grossing Rs 191.50 crore worldwide on its first day. Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared this news on X (formerly Twitter).

The film has become the highest-grossing Indian film on its opening day in North America, earning over $6 million, surpassing the previous record held by SS Rajamouli’s “RRR,” which made around $5.5 million. Prathyangira Cinemas, an overseas film distributor, praised the film’s performance on X, noting its record-breaking debut.

In Australia and New Zealand, “Kalki 2928 AD” also performed well, earning A$457,958 and NZ$44,201, respectively, exceeding the collections of Prabhas’ previous release “Salaar.”

In India, trade experts anticipate the film to exceed Rs 100 crore on its first day, with Telugu-speaking states contributing around Rs 58 crore. The only other films to achieve this milestone on day one are “RRR,” “KGF 2,” and “Baahubali 2.”
Domestically, “Kalki” is Prabhas’ second-best opener after “Baahubali 2” and has surpassed Hrithik Roshan’s “Fighter” to become the biggest Hindi opener of 2024.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film follows Bhairava, a bounty hunter in the Complex, set between the Mahabharata and the onset of the Kali Yuga. The cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, with cameos by Vijay Devarakonda, SS Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma, Dulquer Salmaan, Brahmanandam, Mrunal Thakur, and Anna Ben.
