Hollywood Shuts Down For The First Time In 6 Decades; Reason Is Something That You Cannot Imagine

Hollywood – the most looked-at entertainment industry of the globe. The industry releases around 1500 to 2000 movies per year. There are hundreds of workers and actors who fill their stomachs working in this vast industry. This event is historic as Hollywood shuts down for the first time in 6 Decades. But why has the biggest entertainment come to halt? It is because a union representing more than 150,000 television and movie actors announced Thursday that it would go on strike at midnight. They will be joining screenwriters who went on a protest in the month of May.

Actors and writers are on strike. But Why?

Most of the time, wages or payments are the prime cause for anyone to go on strike. Now one must be thinking that this will not be the case here in Hollywood. But it is actually the case here. The actors and writers are protesting so that they can get a hike in their pay.

These days, there is a sharp rise in OTT and online content creation. It has created challenges as it has overburdened the studios and most of them are facing financial challenges. In addition to better pay, they are asking for new protections in a rapidly changing workplace.

A-list actors last month signed a letter to guild leadership saying they were ready to strike and calling this moment “an unprecedented inflection point in our industry.”

No Hollywood movies and series this year as Hollywood shuts down?

It is a great relief to the movie mongers and people who actually love Hollywood content that the movies and series which were supposed to be released this year are already shot. They are ready to be released in the coming month or coming few days. But Big name shows like “Yellowjackets,” “Severance” and “Stranger Things” halted work after the writers’ strike began; it is not yet clear if their upcoming seasons will be delayed.
