Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday announced that the state has lit an astounding 1.51 crore lamps across Uttar Pradesh.
Within this, a spotlight was on Ayodhya Dham, where an estimated 26 lakh diyas were lit, marking a new milestone in the annual Deepotsav celebrations.
At the coronation ceremony at Ramkatha Park, Yogi invoked the spiritual significance of the occasion, “In Ayodhya, every particle holds dignity, every lamp radiates compassion, and Lord Shri Ram dwells in every heart.”
He described the vast illumination as a living symbol of Sanatan Dharma’s endurance through centuries of struggle.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the event began in 2017 with just 1.71 lakh lamps, and said the rise to 26 lakh in Ayodhya reflects a national awakening of faith and pride.
Yogi noted that Ayodhya, once renamed Faizabad and stripped of identity, has now reclaimed its status as the spiritual capital of India and increasingly a global hub of religious tourism.
He said, “This is the victory of devotion and the fulfilment of the vows of Ram bhakts across generations,” crediting the foundation laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the completion of the Ram Temple.
Without naming opponents, he drew a contrast: “They fired bullets, and we are lighting lamps. They locked the temple, and today Lord Ram sits in his divine abode.” His remarks emphasised the government’s narrative of cultural revival and historical fulfilment.
Highlighting the broader impact, the Chief Minister also said Ayodhya now receives six to ten crore devotees annually.
He further described how the city is developing into a clean, modern, cultural, and emotional destination that embodies the ideal of Ram Rajya, ‘ no one remains poor, sorrowful or deprived’.
The massive illumination, he added, is not just a religious statement but a tool for economic and tourism development in Uttar Pradesh.
Moreover, with 1.51 crore lamps lit across the state and 26 lakh diyas alone in Ayodhya, the Deepotsav 2025 celebration underlines Uttar Pradesh’s ambition to spotlight its spiritual heritage on a global stage.
As Yogi Adityanath declared, this grand display is both a tribute to devotion and an emblem of the state’s confident new identity.
