Rajat Bedi Reflects On Comeback, Growth And Lessons From Two Decades Away

Actor Rajat Bedi, best known for his memorable roles in early 2000s Bollywood films, has made a strong return with Aryan Khan’s directorial venture The Ba**ds of Bollywood*.

After spending two decades in Canada, Bedi shared how he stayed positive and prepared for his comeback despite years of professional inactivity.

Speaking to IANS, Bedi described his return as ‘coming out of cold storage’. “I have always kept myself fit; working out is my hobby,” he said. “Even in Canada, I maintained a routine.

The climate there helped too. People now ask how I managed to stay the same. I just tell them I was in cold storage all this while,” he joked.

Lessons Learnt from a Long Journey

Reflecting on his two-decade journey, the actor said that the time away brought maturity and perspective. “I have gone through pain and happiness, but it’s been a beautiful journey,” Bedi shared. “I had a lot of immaturity in decision-making earlier, but the experiences have helped me grow. My failures have now become stepping stones, and this maturity will help me guide my son’s future.”

Bedi also addressed earlier comments that were misconstrued about filmmaker Rakesh Roshan.

He expressed gratitude for being part of Koi Mil Gaya, which continues to resonate with audiences even after two decades. “Aryan and his friends grew up watching Koi Mil Gaya. I feel blessed that Rakesh Roshan gave me that opportunity. Even today, people recognise me as the guy who broke Rohit’s cycle,” he said.

In The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, now streaming on Netflix, Rajat Bedi plays the role of a fading film star, a character that draws intriguing parallels with his own journey. With renewed energy and perspective, the actor is embracing this new phase of his career, proving that comebacks can be both inspiring and transformative.
