Sushmita Sen talked openly about becoming Miss Universe in 1994 and her acting career. She remarked that Chandni Chopra, the character she played in Shah Rukh Khan’s 2004 film Main Hoon Na, was “small but powerful enough.” She remembered the late director Yash Chopra’s reaction to her performance and how, a day after the film’s premiere, all Main Hoon Na posters in Mumbai were pulled down and replaced with new ones that paired Sushmita with Shah Rukh Khan.
Sushmita on how Farah apologised to her
Sushmita discusses Farah’s apology to her. Main Hoon Na, according to Sushmita, became a career-defining movie since audiences “keep going back” to it. Sushmita stated in an interview that her director Farah Khan had called and apologised to her after seeing the final cut. You are hardly there; Shah Rukh, Zayed, and Amrita all have roles to play, of course. Therefore, I said, “That is okay Farah, we had a deal, you kept your end of the bargain, and I kept mine.” Don’t stress about it now that it is finished. I was, however, internally thinking, “Oh no, I am barely there!” Film City hosted the screening of (Main Hoon Na).My phone starts ringing. And I don’t know why Yash ji (Yash Chopra) is calling me, the whole gamut of the industry is calling. So ab darr darr ke (scared) I pick up the phone.”

You have done wonderful work, I could not take my eyes off of you, and I hope you are in the second half and every frame, Sushmita recalls hearing. The actor claimed that she skipped the screening because Farah had informed her that she was “barely there,” and she felt that watching the movie would make her feel horrible.
“From the response, I knew something had changed,” she continued. The impact had altered, not the function. Even though the role was still minor, it was nevertheless effective. The audience’s response was so strong that Shah Rukh, Amrita Rao, and Zayed Khan were the only actors on the first Main Hoon Na posters that were displayed around Bombay. After the movie came out, Shah Rukh and I were on every poster by Saturday. I have a great deal of respect for the audience’s and people’s power because they were saying, “We want her, we want to see her up there with him (Shah Rukh).”Farah called me and said ‘All the posters were being brought down and new ones are being put up. You better go for a drive today’. And I did.”
