Dr. Kafeel Khan Expresses Gratitude To Shah Rukh Khan For 'Jawan' In Heartfelt Note

Dr. Kafeel Khan, known for his involvement in the 2017 hospital deaths in Uttar Pradesh, has expressed his gratitude to superstar Shah Rukh Khan for his recent movie “Jawan.” In a heartfelt ‘thank you’ note, Dr. Kafeel Khan drew parallels between the movie and the Gorakhpur deaths that led to his suspension and arrest.

In his letter, which was addressed to Mannat, Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Bandra residence, Dr. Kafeel Khan commended the actor’s commitment to using cinema as a platform to address critical socio-political issues. He described Shah Rukh Khan as a “beacon of hope” and expressed his appreciation for the movie’s portrayal of the tragic Gorakhpur Encephalitis incident, which left a lasting impact on him.

Dr. Kafeel Khan, who faced suspension, arrest, and imprisonment in connection with the deaths of 63 children due to an oxygen supply shortage at a Gorakhpur hospital in 2017, mentioned that he had been cleared of major charges, despite government denials.

While acknowledging that “Jawan” is a work of fiction, Dr. Kafeel Khan highlighted the character of Dr. Eeram Khan, portrayed by actor Sanya Malhotra, as representing the challenges and experiences he endured.

The movie features a subplot where Sanya Malhotra’s character struggles to secure oxygen supply at a government hospital treating children with high fever, leading to their tragic deaths and her subsequent arrest.

In his letter, Dr. Kafeel Khan expressed a desire to meet Shah Rukh Khan, director Atlee Kumar, and the film crew to personally convey his gratitude for shedding light on the issues he had faced.
