The meeting came after Chiranjeevi expressed concern in a recent post on X over degrading and morphed videos targeting members of the film industry.
Sources close to the actors said he had sought an appointment with Shah to highlight how AI-generated content and deepfakes threatened artists’ rights, dignity and creative work.
During the meeting, Chiranjeevi reportedly urged the Centre to introduce stronger safeguards and take strict action against those misusing the technology.
Shah assured the actors that the government would urgently examine the issue and consider stronger protections and penalties.
The Home Minister further asked Chiranjeevi to submit a written representation and assigned Union Minister G Kishan Reddy to coordinate the matter.
Chiranjeevi welcomed the assurance, describing it as an encouraging step for the film fraternity.
Ram Charan shared details of the meeting on Instagram, thanking Shah for his time and support and welcoming the government’s assurance to consider stronger safeguards against the misuse of AI and deepfake technology.
