Speculation is mounting in the film industry that Malayalam actor-director Basil Joseph could be roped in to play the son of Rajinikanth in the Superstar’s upcoming project, tentatively titled #Thalaivar173, which also stars Superstar Kamal Haasan.
While there has been no official confirmation from the makers, the rumour has already sparked excitement among fans.
Cibi Chakravarthy will direct the film, while Raaj Kamal Films International, headed by actor-producer Kamal Haasan, will produce it.
The announcement of the collaboration between Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan’s production house had earlier generated considerable buzz.
Industry buzz indicates that Priyanka Arul Mohan may play a key role in the film, billed as a full-fledged commercial entertainer. The production team has, however, yet to issue any formal statement regarding the cast.
Cibi Chakravarthy recently revealed that shooting for the much-awaited project is likely to begin in mid-April.
Speaking at the pre-release promotional event of the film Thaai Kelavi, the director said he would soon be calling action and cut for the Superstar and confirmed plans to commence filming in the middle of April this year.
The director has also made a public promise to Rajinikanth’s fans and family regarding the film’s impact.
At the pre-release event of Soundarya Rajinikanth’s film With Love, he assured audiences that viewers would leave theatres with satisfaction after watching #Thalaivar173, reiterating his commitment.
Rajinikanth himself recently confirmed that shooting would begin in April and described the project as a proper commercial entertainer.
With production gearing up and rumours swirling about key roles, anticipation around #Thalaivar173 continues to build steadily.
