Priyanka Chopra Recalls Her Journey
In the audience interaction program, Priyanka Chopra talked in detail about her journey from childhood to Hollywood. She said that her parents were doctors in the Indian Army and always supported her in every decision.
The Quantico actress said that when she won the title of Miss World in 2000 among participants from 96 countries, she was only 18 years old. Later this journey continued when she was awarded the National Award twice and the Filmfare Award five times.
The Government of India also awarded Priyanka Padma Shri in 2018. At an early age, she got a chance to work with seasoned actors like Akshay Kumar and Sunny Deol.
Priyanka said that the journey from Bollywood to Hollywood was not easy for a girl from a small town like Bareilly. The lesson given by Father Ashok Chopra to make yourself like water was very useful.
She said that she always focuses on the solution instead of the problem. She believes in God and hence took every obstacle as an opportunity. Sharing her experience of her debut film ‘Aitraaz’ with Akshay Kumar, she said that it was a different kind of woman’s role. That role of Sonia was a challenge.
The actress further added, “I had no experience in the film world. I thought that I should not judge my character in the film. This gave me the ability to play that character. Similarly, it happened in ‘Krrish’.
It was India’s first big Superman although the Shaktimaan serial had already come. Rakesh Roshan saw me at a funeral in a simple salwar kameez. He told Abbas Mustan that he wanted to see some of my rushes from the film Aitraaz. I requested him not to show my objectionable scenes.”
Priyanka Says, ‘Have No Godfather In Industry’
The Citadel actress added, “I did not have any godfather in the film industry. I was not from any powerful film family. Whatever I got, it was all due to my hard work, the blessings of my parents, and the grace of God.”
Priyanka Chopra said that she likes different kinds of roles. She did not want to be tied down to a single format. That is why she did action roles in ‘Don’ and ‘Gangajal-2’.
On the question of opening a production house, the actress said that she was not getting the role she wanted to do or the kind of films she wanted to do. The second reason was that she had to give a platform to the young talents of the country in filmmaking.
