Film producer Boney Kapoor and his brother, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, recently reached Rishikesh to perform the last rites of their late mother, Nirmal Kapoor. The brothers immersed her ashes in the Ganga at the same spot where their father, Surinder Kapoor, was laid to rest years ago.
They completed the rituals in a traditional ceremony, dressed in white attire. The solemn occasion brought an emotional moment for the Kapoor family.
Anil Kapoor shares emotional message
After the ceremony, Anil Kapoor shared photographs and a heartfelt message on social media. He wrote, “Grief and peace… Today we immersed mother’s ashes in the Ganga, at the same place where almost a decade ago we bid final farewell to Papa.”
He added, “Along with grief, there was also a feeling of peace, as if mother and father have now become one again, together forever… have returned home.” The actor expressed deep emotion and spiritual fulfilment in the moment.
Anil and Boney also visited Parmarth Niketan Ashram. There, they met Swami Chidananda Saraswati and Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati. They prayed for the peace of their mother’s soul.
Family mourns, fans respond with support
Nirmal Kapoor passed away on 2 May 2025 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. She was 90 and had been suffering from age-related illnesses.
In an earlier post, Anil Kapoor thanked the public for their support. He wrote, “The sympathy and affection our family received was unbelievable. Mother may have been behind the scenes, but her presence kept the whole family together.”
He described her as the thread that united the Kapoor family. Her warmth and smile brought comfort to everyone. Her passing has left a deep void, felt both within the family and among those who knew her.
However, Sanjay Kapoor was not seen during the rituals. Some fans raised questions online about his absence. Despite this, many offered their condolences and appreciated Anil’s touching words, which they said reflected the emotions of anyone who has loved and lost a parent.
