Shah Rukh Khan once shared an amusing anecdote about a fan who failed to recognise him and instead believed he was Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. He spoke about the memorable incident during an appearance on filmmaker Sajid Khan’s celebrity talk show ‘Yaaron Ki Baraat’.
The actor explained that the incident occurred while he was flying back from New York after completing the shooting of ‘Pardes’. He was anxious to return home after learning that his wife, Gauri Khan, had suffered a miscarriage.
To make matters worse, the handle of his luggage snapped as he hurried through the airport, leaving him flustered.
As Shah Rukh Khan rushed towards the check-in counter, a woman repeatedly called out to him, requesting an autograph and a photograph.
Owing to the urgency of the situation, Shah Rukh continued on his way before eventually stopping to meet her after completing the formalities.
When the fan finally reached him, she excitedly introduced herself as a devoted admirer.
Assuming she had recognised him correctly, Shah Rukh responded courteously.
The interaction took an unexpected turn moments later when the woman enthusiastically declared, ‘Akshay, I love you’.
The actor realised she had mistaken him for Akshay Kumar, turning what had been a stressful day into a surprisingly humorous memory.
Shah Rukh Khan is currently preparing for his upcoming action drama King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The makers will release the highly anticipated film in cinemas on 24 December 2026.
