Vivek Agnihotri
Vivek Agnihotri has decided not to participate in the upcoming Filmfare Awards, where his film The Kashmir Files is up for seven awards, including Best Director. Vivek stated that he does not wish to participate in an “oppressive and corrupt system or awards that treat writers, directors, and other HODs and crew members of a film as inferior to and/or as slaves to stars.” Responding to a tweet about the Filmfare designations this year, Vivek composed a long note hammering home the honors and discussing the ascent of another equal Hindi entertainment world.
Vivek Agnihotri against Filmfare
Congratulating those who may not win, he wrote, “My congratulations to all those who win and more to those who do not. The brighter side is that I am not alone. Slowly but steadily, a parallel Hindi film industry is emerging. Until then…” He went on to add lines from a Dushyant Kumar poem about revolt for change and added the hashtag #HumDekhenge (we will see).

“I learned from the media that #TheKashmirFiles is nominated in seven categories for the 68th Filmfare Awards,” Vivek wrote on Twitter on Thursday in reference to Filmfare. However, I respectfully decline to participate in these unethical and anti-cinema awards. Why is this? As per Filmfare, other than the stars, no one has a face. Nobody is important. That is the reason, in the toady and deceptive universe of Filmfare, expert chiefs like Sanjay Bhansali or Sooraj Barjatya make no appearances. Sooraj resembles Mr. Bachchan, Sanjay Bhansali resembles Alia Bhatt, and Annes Bazmi resembles Karthik Aryan. It isn’t so much that a movie producer’s pride comes from Filmfare Grants; however, this embarrassing framework should end.”
He went on to say, “I have decided not to accept such awards as my protest and dissent against a corrupt, unethical, and sycophantic establishment of Bollywood.” I refuse to be a part of any oppressive and corrupt awards system that treats writers, directors, and other HODs and crew members of a film in a manner that places them below the stars and/or makes them their slaves.
