Bollywood actor and producer Aamir Khan has underlined that filmmaking, at its core, is rooted in storytelling, with cinematic tools serving only to enhance the narrative rather than define it.
Speaking during promotions for his latest production, Ek Din, he noted that storytelling is intrinsic to human nature and has existed long before the advent of modern filmmaking techniques.
In a conversation with comedian-actor Zakir Khan, Aamir explained that while the methods of presenting stories have evolved, from oral traditions to the use of cameras, sound, and music, the essence remains unchanged.
The Bollywood actor and producer stressed that no amount of technical sophistication can compensate for a weak or unengaging story, adding that audiences will lose interest if the narrative fails to captivate them.
The film Ek Din features Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan in lead roles. Junaid plays a reserved young man who develops feelings for a lively and cheerful colleague, portrayed by Sai Pallavi. Their relationship takes a dramatic turn when her character suffers from Transient Global Amnesia following an accident in Japan, remembering only Junaid, who saved her life.
The project marks a reunion between Aamir Khan and filmmaker Mansoor Khan after a long gap, reviving a partnership known for iconic films such as Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Akele Hum Akele Tum, and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.
With Ek Din, they return to the romance genre.
Sunil Pandey directs the film, and Aamir Khan, Mansoor Khan, and Aparna Purohit produce it under Aamir Khan Productions. It also marks Sai Pallavi’s Bollywood debut and Junaid Khan’s second theatrical release after Loveyapa.
The film is currently running in cinemas.
