Speaking to People magazine after their nuptials, Ankur Jain expressed the allure of celebrating their union in a completely different cultural setting. “We’re New Yorkers, and there’s something so special about being in a completely different world environment,” he shared, highlighting their desire for a unique and memorable experience.
Their wedding was far from traditional, with the couple opting out of a bridal party and forgoing a traditional wedding cake. They entrusted much of the planning to their coordinators, with Erika Hammond admitting she hadn’t even seen the napkins or table settings. “We’re not traditional wedding people,” Ankur Jain added, questioning the necessity of extravagant expenses like pricey flowers.

One standout aspect of their wedding was their attention to their guests’ experience. They arranged transportation for their guests from a safari in Africa back to Cairo for the ceremony, though their plans hit a snag with an unexpected delay due to governmental intervention. Despite the setback, the couple worked tirelessly to ensure their guests’ arrival in Egypt, ultimately resolving the issue. However, the delay pushed back their welcome event by three hours.
Nevertheless, the welcome party, held at the Muhammed Ali Palace with a “Modern Cairo” theme, was a resounding success, lasting until the early hours of the morning. The festivities featured belly and fire dancers, embodying the spirit of celebration and cultural immersion that defined the couple’s wedding experience.
