Stock Markets Turn Volatile As Global Tensions Rise

Indian markets move into a consolidation phase with high volatility, as global tensions, crude oil prices, & FII outflows weigh on sentiment.

Indian Stock Market

Indian stock markets are entering a consolidation phase marked by high volatility and limited visibility, as global developments continue to influence market direction.

Rising geopolitical tensions, particularly involving the United States and Iran, have kept crude oil prices elevated, raising concerns over inflation and fiscal stability for import-dependent economies like India.

Analysts note that while domestic inflows and technical factors provide some support, global cues remain the dominant driver.

Investors should adopt a cautious and selective approach, with a strong emphasis on risk management in the near term.

Benchmark indices Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex closed lower at 22,713.10 and 73,319.55, respectively, in the previous session, reflecting ongoing market pressure.

Persistent foreign institutional investor outflows continue to weigh on sentiment, despite a temporary recovery in the rupee following measures by the Reserve Bank of India to curb speculative activity.

Sectoral performance remains mixed, with IT and metal stocks showing recovery, while pharma, banking, and financial stocks face selling pressure.

Given prevailing macroeconomic uncertainty and elevated crude oil prices, analysts recommend focusing on fundamentally strong large-cap stocks with stable earnings visibility. Select opportunities may emerge in metals, energy, and certain IT stocks, while caution is advised in rate-sensitive sectors.

From a technical perspective, markets remain fragile but not decisively bearish. The 22,500 level acts as immediate support, with the 22,000–22,100 range forming a key demand zone.

On the upside, 22,900 remains a critical resistance level, followed by the psychological 23,000 mark.

In commodities, gold continues to attract safe-haven demand amid global uncertainty, while crude oil maintains an upward bias due to ongoing supply concerns, further shaping market sentiment.
