On Friday, stock markets closed with modest losses for the second consecutive session, mainly due to selling in IT sectors and a lack of new buying triggers.
The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 47.77 points or 0.07 percent to 65,970.04. It fluctuated 207.59 points over the day, reaching a high of 66,101.64 and a low of 65,894.05.
The Nifty lost 7.30 points or 0.04 percent to 19,794.70.
HCL Tech, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Nestle, Tata Motors, Infosys, Bharti Airtel, UltraTech Cement, and Tata Steel were among the Sensex laggards.
Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, JSW Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Kotak Mahindra Bank, on the other hand, were the significant players.
In Asian markets, Tokyo finished higher, while Seoul, Shanghai, and Hong Kong finished lower.
The majority of European markets were trading in green.
On Thursday, the US markets were closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Brent crude gained 0.18 percent to USD 81.57 per barrel.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) purchased securities worth Rs 255.53 crore on Thursday.
On Thursday, the BSE benchmark declined 5.43 points or 0.01 percent to 66,017.81. The Nifty sank 9.85 points or 0.05 percent to 19,802.
