Indian benchmark equity indices ended Tuesday’s session in positive territory, supported by strong gains in information technology, metal and consumer durable stocks.

Investors, however, maintained a cautious stance while monitoring ongoing trade negotiations between India and the United States.

The Nifty settled 100.95 points, or 0.43 per cent, higher at 23,483.55. The Sensex climbed 382.50 points, or 0.52 per cent, to finish at 74,649.84.

Market analysts noted that the 23,500-23,550 range remains an important resistance zone for the Nifty. They stated that a sustained breakout above this band could strengthen market sentiment and push the index towards the 23,750-23,800 levels.

Experts also identified the 23,300-23,250 range as a critical support area that investors should continue to monitor.

Heavy buying in frontline technology counters lifted the broader market.

Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, and HCL Technologies emerged among the top gainers on the Nifty.

Within the Sensex pack, TCS led the advances, followed by Infosys, HCL Tech, Adani Ports, and Tech Mahindra.

On the losing side, NTPC emerged as the biggest laggard, while Axis Bank, Power Grid, Bajaj Finance, and Bajaj Finserv also ended lower.

The broader market mirrored the positive trend. The Nifty MidCap index gained 0.18 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index advanced 0.40 per cent.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty IT delivered the strongest performance. Nifty Consumer Durable, Auto, and FMCG indices also outperformed the broader market.

Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare remained under pressure and closed lower.

Investor attention remained firmly on India-US trade discussions.

A US delegation led by Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Brendan Lynch began a three-day round of negotiations in New Delhi to finalise the first phase of the proposed bilateral trade agreement.

With earnings season largely over, market participants have shifted focus to monsoon progress, inflation trends, RBI policy decisions, and liquidity conditions to gauge future market direction.
