Indian benchmark equity indices recovered on Tuesday, ending a two-session decline as investor sentiment strengthened after remarks by Donald Trump suggested that the conflict involving Iran may reach a resolution soon.
The statement eased global anxiety and encouraged buying across multiple sectors.
The BSE Sensex climbed 639.82 points, or 0.82 per cent, to close at 78,205.98. Meanwhile, the Nifty 50 advanced 233.5 points, or 0.97 per cent, finishing the session at 24,261.6.
Market participants responded positively as geopolitical concerns appeared to soften.
Analysts stated that immediate resistance for the Nifty stands near the 24,300 mark.
A decisive breakout above this level may extend the recovery towards the next short-term resistance around 24,600. On the downside, the 24,000 zone continues to provide strong technical support for the index.
Broader indices outperformed the frontline benchmarks during the session.
The Nifty Midcap 100 rose 1.62 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 surged 2.12 per cent, indicating strong participation from mid and smaller companies.
Among sectoral performers, the Nifty Auto Index emerged as the top gainer.
The Nifty Consumer Durables Index and Nifty Financial Services Ex‑Bank Index also registered notable advances.
However, some segments lagged the broader rally. The Nifty IT Index recorded the sharpest decline, while the Nifty Oil & Gas Index underperformed the overall market trend.
Experts noted that easing geopolitical tensions helped stabilise investor confidence.
Market participants will continue monitoring developments related to the Middle East conflict and global economic indicators for future direction.
