Indian stock markets recorded a robust upswing on April 15 as easing geopolitical tensions, following remarks by US President Donald Trump, strengthened investor confidence. His indication that the conflict with Iran may be nearing closure boosted overall market sentiment.

The Nifty 50 rose by 1.63 per cent, adding 388.65 points to finish at 24,231.30. Similarly, the Sensex climbed 1,264 points, marking a 1.64 per cent increase to close at 78,111.24.
Key Levels to Watch

According to analysts, the 24,300–24,400 band remains a significant resistance zone for the Nifty. A clear move beyond this range could pave the way for further gains towards the 24,800–25,000 levels.

On the lower side, the 24,000 level provides immediate support, while the 23,900–23,800 range is likely to serve as a strong demand area.

A wide range of stocks supported the upward movement, with leading contributors including InterGlobe Aviation, Max Healthcare Institute, Power Grid Corporation of India, and Eternal.

Mid- and small-cap stocks outperformed the broader indices, reflecting healthy market participation. The Nifty MidCap index advanced by 2.20 per cent, whereas the Nifty SmallCap index gained 2.35 per cent.

Construction-linked stocks led the rally, with the Nifty Construction Durable index emerging as the top gainer. Strong buying was also observed in the IT and media sectors, signalling increased investor interest in growth-driven industries.

In contrast, the Nifty PSU Bank index underperformed the broader market, indicating weaker momentum in public sector banking stocks.

Among thematic indices, capital markets, tourism, and railway PSU stocks delivered better performance, while rural-focused and CPSE segments lagged.

The Indian rupee strengthened slightly to trade near 93.36. Improving global sentiment, following ongoing discussions between the United States and Iran, supported this.

Analysts noted that declining crude oil prices, now trending towards the $94–95 range, have eased concerns over India’s import bill and provided near-term relief to the currency.

Overall, the market rally was underpinned by favourable global developments and reduced geopolitical uncertainty, which collectively enhanced investor confidence and encouraged buying across sectors, pointing to a constructive short-term outlook for equities.
