Over 4 Lakh Backlog Jobs For SC, ST, OBC Filled Since 2016: Centre

Union Minister Jitendra Singh informed the Rajya Sabha that more than 4 lakh backlog posts reserved for SC, ST, and OBC candidates since 2016.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh informed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the government has filled more than 4 lakh backlog posts reserved for Schedule Caste (SC), Schedule Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates since 2016.

“Occurrence and filling of vacancies, including the backlog reserved vacancies, is a continuous process,” he said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

Union Minister Details About The Backlog Jobs

Union Minister Jitendra Singh also said that he had instructed all ministries and departments of the central government to constitute an in-house committee to identify backlog-reserved vacancies.

The departments have been asked to study the root cause of such vacancies and to initiate measures to remove the factors causing such vacancies. Singh has also asked to fill up the vacancies including the special recruitment drives.

He further added, “According to the data provided by the ministries, the government has filled more than 4 lakh backlog reserved vacancies for SC/ST and OBC candidates since 2016.”

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has also asked to appoint an officer of the rank of Deputy Secretary and above to ensure due compliance with the orders and instructions on the reservation.

The Minister of State for Personnel added that each ministry must establish a special reservation cell, which the Liaison Officer directly controls, to assist in discharging duties. He also informed that the respective government organizations under each ministry or department maintain the details of the vacancies.
