ONDC Created New Record : ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) has recently created buzz due to its increasing popularity among masses. The reason behind was huge discount offered by the platform to its customers. After a few weeks ONDC has announced revised incentive plans and with this move people started assuming that ONDC would not be able to sustain or compete with the platforms like Zomato and Swiggy but to our surprise ONDC reported bagging 30000 order in a day on last weekend.

Before that ONDC’s order declined to 9000-10000 in a day as they downsized the discounts and offers. On 8th May, ONDC recorded 25,000 orders but since June 1st new incentives and discounts are applicable and ONDC clearly announced that a buyer will be eligible for only 5 transactions per month.
Earlier customers could avail discounts on 3 orders per day, or a maximum of 30 orders in total. Considering that 30000 orders on the weekend give new hope to the platform and its expansion plans.

Now ONDC has put some restrictions on orders as well such as overall discounts should not exceed 50 percent of the total order value. The maximum incentive spend per order has been capped at Rs 100, earlier it was Rs 125.

According to the data, at present, ONDC gets mostly retail orders for the food & beverages category and a small volume of grocery. An industry source said that “Typically, the network players raise the level of discounts on weekends to attract new users. This helps to increase the average number of daily retail orders in the coming weeks. Also, ONDC has been pushing network participants to do more to be able to achieve the goal of 1 lakh orders in a day.”

Now, it would be interesting to see how the company would retain this achievement of orders.
