Nita Ambani, the Founder and Chair of Reliance Foundation, was honored with the 2023 USISPF Global Leadership Award for Philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility. The award was presented by John Chambers, Chairman of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), during a reception in New Delhi on Sunday, October 29. The event was attended by USISPF Board Members, prominent Indian business leaders, and government officials.

In her acceptance speech, Nita Ambani expressed her gratitude on behalf of her team and highlighted the profound impact of Reliance Foundation, which has positively impacted over 71 million lives. She emphasized the longstanding commitment of Reliance to Corporate Moral Responsibility (CMR), which has now evolved into their philosophy of “WE CARE,” focusing on the planet, humanity, and the nation.

Recognized for her philanthropic work

Nita Ambani is recognized for her philanthropic work, particularly in the areas of education, arts, sports, and healthcare. She is a strong advocate for women’s and children’s causes, aiming to bridge the gender divide and maximize women’s contributions to India’s growing economy. Her significant contributions to arts and culture were recently acknowledged when she became the first Indian to be elected as an Honorary Trustee on the Board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

International Olympic Committee

As India’s representative on the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Nita Ambani led the Indian delegation that successfully won the right to host the 141st IOC Session in India, held in Mumbai in October 2023. She has also been a promoter and mentor for the Mumbai Indians cricket franchise and advocated for cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics, which is set to happen in the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

USISPF also organized panel discussions with eminent Olympians Abhinav Bindra and Saina Nehwal, along with director and playwright Feroz Abbas Khan, to discuss telling an Indian story through cinema and plays.
