Nita Ambani recently brought a taste of India to New York, as she spent an evening at Bungalow—Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna’s celebrated restaurant—curating a special culinary preview for the forthcoming NMACC India Weekend.
She was joined by her daughter, Isha Ambani Piramal and infant granddaughter Aadiya Shakti, making it a multigenerational celebration of India’s cultural heritage.
Ambani received a heartwarming welcome as she arrived at the venue.
The restaurant crew showered flowers upon her, and a troupe of dancers performed a traditional welcome act.
A viral video captured the moment a dancer invited her to join the performance—an invitation she accepted with a warm smile.
A trained classical dancer herself, Ambani also gracefully joined the group, much to the delight of the audience gathered there.
Chef Vikas Khanna personally prepared a range of innovative Indian dishes for the occasion.
Among the highlights was a unique rendition of pani puri, delicately filled with caramelised pineapple.
Meanwhile, Ambani, visibly pleased, took a bite and, with a smile, described it in one word—’Delicious’.
The tasting session played a crucial role in finalising the menu for the India Weekend festivities, which will feature curated Indian food pop-ups.
Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) is organising the upcoming India Weekend from 12 to 14 September at New York’s iconic Lincoln Center.
It aims to present Indian art, dance, music, fashion, and wellness to a global audience.
Events will also include yoga sessions, dance workshops by Shiamak Davar, musical theatre performances, and culinary showcases.
In a statement shared on the NMACC website, Nita Ambani described the event as a global celebration of India’s diverse heritage.
“The weekend is designed to be a global celebration of India’s cultural legacy—our art, crafts, music, dance, fashion, and food,” she noted.
She further added, “At NMACC, our vision has always been to showcase the best of the world to India and bring the best of India to the world. This special weekend marks the first step forward on that journey.”
Meanwhile, by taking India’s rich traditions to an international platform like Lincoln Center, Nita Ambani’s initiative highlights the power of cultural diplomacy.
Her collaboration with Vikas Khanna also bridges fine dining with cultural storytelling—an appetising prelude to India’s grand cultural showcase in New York City.
