A comprehensive joint mock drill involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire Department and the Adani project team was successfully conducted at Binawar Toll Plaza under Group-2 of the Ganga Expressway in Badaun on Wednesday.
The exercise aimed to strengthen disaster management and emergency response mechanisms.
The mock drill was led by NDRF Battalion Commandant Ravindra Singh Aswal, NDRF Inspector Chaman Kishore Gupta and Fire Station Officer Shailendra Singh.
Adani project officials, including Project Manager Arvind Singh, Security and Incident Manager Baljeet Singh, Safety Manager Rajesh Kumar Maurya, along with other project personnel, also participated.
The exercise simulated an emergency scenario in which an LPG tanker collided with another vehicle, leading to a gas leak followed by a fire. The mock situation also assumed that five people remained trapped near the tanker.
Following the alert, the NDRF, Fire Department and Adani’s emergency response teams carried out coordinated rescue operations in accordance with the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The NDRF team used modern safety equipment and techniques to control the gas leak and safely rescue all five trapped individuals, while the Fire Department successfully contained the fire and the associated hazards.
The joint exercise sought to assess inter-agency coordination, rapid response capability, the effective utilisation of available resources, and the efficiency of rescue and relief operations during emergencies.
After the drill, officials reviewed the entire operation and discussed measures to further strengthen disaster management systems.
The successful exercise demonstrated that effective coordination, timely action and efficient resource management can significantly minimise the loss of life and property during emergencies.
Organisers said they will continue conducting such drills regularly as part of the Ganga Expressway project’s commitment to safety and disaster preparedness.
