Market specialists have advised investors to approach Sunday’s Muhurat trading session with discipline as the Indian stock market enters Samvat 2083.
Although the traditional Diwali session offers an opportunity to make auspicious investments, experts stressed the importance of financial discipline over festive enthusiasm. They suggested that long-term investors reassess their portfolios and consider quality stocks selectively.
Traders with shorter investment horizons should evaluate technical indicators and international market developments before entering positions.
According to Motilal Oswal Financial Services (MOSL), Nifty traded at 17.5 times its projected earnings, approximately 16 per cent below its historical average.
Small-cap valuations, however, remained elevated, trading at a 25 per cent premium to their historical average.
The brokerage anticipated a recovery in corporate earnings, forecasting Nifty earnings per share growth of 16 per cent in FY27 and 14 per cent in FY28, compared with 5 per cent in FY26.
For Samvat 2083, analysts identified banking, financial services, capital markets, manufacturing, exports, consumption and digital businesses as preferred investment segments.
Additional opportunities could emerge across healthcare equipment, aerospace, automotive components, pharmaceutical ingredients, garments, port cargo, organised jewellery and quick-commerce businesses.
Experts cautioned against substantial orders and excessive trading during the restricted Muhurat window, highlighting the potential impact of reduced liquidity.
First-time investors should begin with modest allocations towards financially sound companies and maintain a long-term outlook instead of chasing stocks for festive reasons.
Analysts anticipated limited movement or consolidation as benchmark indices approached significant resistance levels following a recent rally.
Nifty, hovering around 24,600, has support at 24,350, while resistance could emerge between 24,700 and 24,800.
Market participants warned that investors might book profits after six consecutive sessions of gains.
