Mother Dairy has stated that it currently has no plans to raise retail milk prices further, citing a comfortable supply situation and stable procurement across the country.

Speaking at a press conference, Mother Dairy Chairman and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman Meenesh Shah said the company does not foresee another increase in milk prices at present. He clarified that any future decision would depend on changes in input costs and overall business viability.

Mother Dairy raised milk prices by Rs 2 per litre on May 14 after maintaining rates for nearly a year.

The company introduced the revision to partially offset rising input expenses and higher procurement prices paid to dairy farmers.

Shah emphasised that milk availability remains healthy and procurement from farmers continues without difficulty. He projected India’s milk production to grow by 4-6 per cent during the current financial year, compared with around 250 million tonnes recorded in the previous year.

Meenesh Shah noted that annual production growth remains aligned with rising consumer demand. He expressed confidence that the country will comfortably meet dairy requirements over the next 10 to 15 years.

Shah also highlighted several government initiatives aimed at improving animal health, increasing productivity, and expanding dairy cooperative networks across India.

Last month, Mother Dairy explained that farmer procurement prices had increased by nearly six per cent over the previous year.

The company said the latest revision reflected only a partial transfer of those costs to consumers. It also noted that around 75-80 per cent of its milk sales realisation is passed on to farmers.

Mother Dairy recorded a 17 per cent rise in turnover to Rs 20,300 crore in FY26, driven by strong demand for milk products and edible oils.

The company markets products under the Mother Dairy, Dhara, and Safal brands and operates multiple processing facilities nationwide.
