Mercedes-Benz gearing up to launch their new EV, know the details

One of the oldest and prominent luxury cars making brand Mercedes-Benz is aggressively forging into EV segment.  Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to launch four new electric vehicles in India in the next 8-12 months. The move is part of the company’s global strategy to expand its electric vehicle portfolio and make the transition to sustainable mobility.

The 4 new electric vehicles to be launched in India include the EQS, EQA, EQC and the EQB. The EQS is a luxury sedan and is expected to be the first electric vehicle to be launched in India by Mercedes-Benz. The EQA is a compact SUV, while the EQC is a mid-size SUV. The EQB is also an SUV, but it is smaller than the EQC.

-The EQS is a flagship electric vehicle from Mercedes-Benz and is based on the company’s new electric vehicle platform. It has a range of up to 770 km on a single charge and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 4.3 seconds.

-The EQA has a range of up to 426 km on a single charge and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 8.9 seconds.

-The EQC has a range of up to 471 km on a single charge and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 5.1 seconds.

-The EQB has a range of up to 419 km on a single charge and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz has already started local production of electric vehicles in India at its plant in Pune. The company has invested over INR 2,200cr ($295 million) to upgrade the plant for electric vehicle production. The plant currently produces the EQC and the EQA is expected to be added to the production line soon.

Mercedes-Benz has also announced their  plans to set up a battery assembly plant in India. The company is currently in talks with various state governments to finalize the location for the plant. The battery assembly plant is expected to start production in the next 2-3 years.

With the launch of electric vehicle the dependency on crude oil will decreased.

Talking about India, the Indian government is pushing towards electric mobility and the increasing demand for electric vehicles in the country, Mercedes-Benz is well-positioned to capture a significant share of the growing EV market in India.
