Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced substantial price reductions across its luxury SUV portfolio in India, passing on the benefits of the recently implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate revision to its customers.
Effective immediately, the price drop spans from ₹4.5 lakh to ₹30.4 lakh, covering popular models such as the Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery.
The decision comes in light of the central government’s decision to reduce GST on luxury vehicles, a move welcomed by the automotive sector.
JLR’s Managing Director for India, Rajan Amba, termed the reform ‘a much-needed impetus’ that aligns with the company’s long-term vision for India’s luxury automotive segment.
“The GST rationalisation on luxury vehicles is a welcome move for customers and for the industry,” said Amba. “It reinforces our confidence in the Indian market.”
Price Cuts Across JLR’s Flagship Models
According to the company’s official announcement, all major SUV lines, Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery, will now come with lower ex-showroom prices.
The highest reduction, ₹30.4 lakh, is reportedly applied to certain high-end Range Rover variants.
The move not only makes these premium vehicles more accessible to Indian buyers but also places JLR in a competitive position against other global automakers operating in India.
JLR’s announcement comes on the heels of a similar development from Volvo Car India.
The Swedish carmaker declared a price reduction of up to ₹6.9 lakh across its internal combustion engine (ICE) models, effective from 22 September.
The changes reflect an industry-wide trend of swift alignment with the revised GST framework, aimed at reviving demand in the luxury automobile market.
With GST relief trickling down to customers, the luxury car market in India could see a spike in bookings in the coming months.
Analysts expect the new pricing to drive more footfall to premium showrooms as the festive season approaches.
