Reliance Jio’s 5G network has surpassed 170 million users, solidifying its position as the world’s largest standalone 5G operator outside China. As the user base for Jio’s 5G network continues to expand, the average data consumption per user has also surged. By the end of December, the per-user data consumption reached 32.3 GB, the highest in the industry.
Jio now accounts for 40% of the total data consumption in the country, with overall data usage on the network reaching a massive 465.1 billion GB, a 22.2% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is highlighted in Reliance’s quarterly results.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance, attributed this strong growth in the digital services business to the consistent increase in the number of customers. He emphasized that a better customer mix and the growing number of customers upgrading to 5G have contributed to the success. Additionally, Jio has strengthened its market position with competitive offerings in home broadband services.
