On Friday, Former Jaypee Group Chairman Jaiprakash Gaur welcomed the selection of the Adani Group as the successful bidder for Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL), expressing confidence in the outcome of the insolvency proceedings.
In a statement, Jaiprakash Gaur said the decision taken by the Committee of Creditors (CoC) was respected, describing the process as fair and transparent.
Jaiprakash Gaur also conveyed confidence in Gautam Adani, stating that the company’s legacy would continue under his leadership with renewed direction and responsibility, while meeting the expectations of stakeholders.
The Jaypee Group Chairman extended his heartfelt wishes to the Adani Group and acknowledged both the resolution authorities and participating bidders, including the Vedanta Group, for their involvement in the process.
Reflecting on the company’s journey, Jaiprakash Gaur noted that Jaiprakash Associates Ltd has represented decades of work since its establishment in 1979. He highlighted that the group developed several major assets, including the Buddh International Circuit, large hydropower projects, cement operations, and integrated townships such as Jaypee Wish Town, Jaypee Greens, and Jaypee Sports City.
The Jaypee Group Chairman further said that the financial stress leading to the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process had been challenging for all involved, adding that the group had worked closely with homebuyers, employees, lenders and partners to ensure a balanced resolution.
Separately, the Supreme Court of India declined to halt the implementation of the resolution plan submitted by Adani Enterprises, dealing a setback to the Vedanta Group.
A Bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant observed that the matter is already likely for final hearing before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on April 10, and therefore saw no reason to interfere at this stage.
