Indian Women Airbnb Hosts Earn Rs 260 Crore In 2024; Drive Hospitality Growth

Indian women are making a mark in hospitality, with nearly 30% of Airbnb hosts earning Rs 260 crore in 2024.

According to a recent report, Indian women are playing a significant role in the hospitality sector, with nearly 30% of Airbnb hosts in India earning a cumulative Rs 260 crore in 2024.

Airbnb stated that over 56% of women hosts in India received five-star reviews, reflecting their commitment to quality hospitality.

Women manage nearly 35% of India’s most popular Airbnb listings, showcasing their growing influence in the sector.

Amanpreet Singh Bajaj, Country Head for India and Southeast Asia, Airbnb, stated, “Our data shows that women hosts are delivering exceptional hospitality while achieving financial independence, and women travellers are increasingly exploring the world with confidence. This International Women’s Day, we recognise that we must collectively accelerate our efforts.”

“By empowering women hosts and travellers, we’re committed to creating a more equitable future for the generations to come,” he further asserted.

Beyond hosting, Indian women travellers are actively choosing Airbnb for their journeys.

Millennials (born between 1985-1995) are leading bookings, followed by Gen Z travellers (born between 1997-2012).

Most women travellers prefer group travel, typically booking stays for two to six nights, reflecting a trend toward short yet immersive experiences.

In domestic travel, Goa was the most popular destination for Indian women in 2024, followed by Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, and Jaipur.

Among emerging travel spots, Varanasi saw a 75% rise in bookings compared to 2023, making it the fastest-growing destination, followed by Ahmedabad and Mathura.

For international travel, London topped the list as the preferred destination, followed by Dubai, Bangkok, Paris, and Rome.

Tbilisi, Georgia, led the surge in interest with a 145% increase in bookings, followed by Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Bangkok, and Sydney.
