India Leading Global Workplace Digital Transformation, But Faces Cybersecurity Challenges

India is rapidly advancing in workplace digital transformation, with a report from Zoho revealing that the country could reach advanced digital maturity within the next decade.

The study, published on Wednesday, highlighted that 71% of Indian employees are already at advanced levels of digital maturity, a figure significantly higher than the global average of 61%. India’s digital transformation maturity score stands at 64.6%, surpassing both developed nations and the global average of 62.3%.

India Cybersecurity Readiness Remains Concern

Despite this progress, India still faces challenges in cybersecurity readiness. The Zoho report noted that many Indian organizations, especially government institutions and large enterprises, need to reassess their digital transformation strategies to address cybersecurity gaps and enhance collaboration.

“In India, government institutions and large enterprises must reassess their digital transformation strategies to address cybersecurity gaps and enhance collaboration,” said Rakeeb Rafeek, market strategy lead at Zoho Workplace.

India Lack Of Cybersecurity Training & Measures

The report also revealed that, while digital transformation is progressing, cybersecurity remains an area of concern. Only 37% of organizations in India offer cybersecurity training to their employees, compared to 44% in the Asia-Pacific region and 41% globally. In addition, just 33% of Indian companies follow secure remote work guidelines, and less than half of remote and hybrid workers adhere to these measures.

To keep pace with digital transformation, Indian startups and enterprises must adopt a forward-thinking approach, according to Rafeek. Companies should invest in integrated suites, AI-powered analytics tools, and secure communication platforms to tackle both current and future challenges effectively.

Limited Adoption Of Advanced Email Security

While 74% of Indian companies provide a system for reporting suspicious emails, only 17% have implemented advanced email security alerts. Government and development sectors are leading in this adoption, indicating a need for broader implementation across other industries.

The report, which analyzed the digital maturity of workplaces worldwide, included input from over 5,000 employees. The survey focused on factors like digital adoption, employee performance, and workplace tools, offering a comprehensive view of global digital transformation trends.
