Benchmark equity indices rose in early trade on Friday owing to positive trends in global markets.
The 30-share BSE Sensex soared 474.97 points, or 0.65 percent to 72,879.14, while the NSE Nifty climbed 150.50 points, or 0.68 percent to 22,108.00.
Cholamandalam Invest, ITC, BPCL, LIC, Sun Pharmaceutical, Asian Paints, JSW Steel, NTPC, Vedanta, and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers.
Among the laggards were Bank Of Baroda, LTIMindtree, JIO Financial Serv., Zomato, TVS Motor Company, and Infosys.
In Asian markets, Singapore, South Korea, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan were trading higher, while Shanghai was trading lower.
On Thursday, US markets closed in green.
Brent crude gained 0.55 percent to USD 84.34 per barrel.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold securities worth Rs 6,994.86 crore on Thursday.
On Thursday, the Sensex dipped 1,062.22 points, or 1.45 percent, to 72,404.17, while the Nifty sank 345 points, or 1.55 percent, to 21,957.50.
