Elon Musk’s X Social Media Platform Surpasses 600 Million Monthly Active Users

In a groundbreaking announcement on Friday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that his social media platform, X, has achieved a milestone of 600 million monthly active users (MAUs).

Acquired by Musk in 2022 for a staggering $44 billion, X has rapidly evolved into what Musk describes as an ‘everything app,’ encompassing features ranging from content sharing to digital payments.

Musk’s proclamation came through a post where he disclosed, “X has 600 million monthly active users, about half of which use the platform every day,” highlighting the platform’s significant engagement metrics.

Users of X have echoed Musk’s sentiments, proclaiming it as the premier social media platform globally, praising its diverse functionalities and user-friendly interface.

Moreover, Musk hinted at upcoming features, including the integration of super chats for live content, offering enhanced interaction opportunities for users.

Additionally, paid users will soon have the capability to monetize their content, spanning from movies and TV series to podcasts, further enriching the platform’s ecosystem.

Excitingly, Musk teased the imminent arrival of the ‘AI Audiences’ feature, which promises to revolutionize content dissemination on X.

Leveraging advanced artificial intelligence systems, this feature aims to swiftly identify the most relevant users for targeted posts, streamlining content distribution.

In a bid to tackle issues related to bots and misinformation, Musk disclosed plans to introduce a nominal fee for content posting on X, particularly targeting new and unverified users.

This move aligns with Musk’s vision of maintaining the platform’s integrity and combating the proliferation of disinformation.

Initiating the fee structure as a pilot program, X began charging new unverified users a nominal fee of $1 per year in select markets, including New Zealand and the Philippines, starting in October last year.

Musk stated that current AI capabilities, coupled with the prevalence of troll farms, can effortlessly bypass traditional bot-detection mechanisms.
