Vistara Urges Pilots to End Strike, Promises Compensation Following Integration with Air India Roster

Vistara has appealed to its pilots to cease their strike and resume work on Wednesday, following an online conference. The airline assured pilots that they would receive compensation for additional hours worked, particularly after the integration with Air India’s roster, as reported by Moneycontrol.

During an online meeting held on April 3, Vistara’s CEO, Vinod Kannan, directly addressed the pilots regarding ongoing disputes over compensation. Notable executives such as HR Head Deepa Chadha, Vinod Bhat, Vikram Mohan Dayal, and Rajiv Malhotra were also present during the meeting.

The airline has been grappling with crew shortages as pilots refrained from duty as a form of protest. This disruption has resulted in numerous flight cancellations and delays, inconveniencing passengers significantly.

Vistara’s plea to its pilots reflects the acknowledgment of the adverse impact on its operations and the inconvenience faced by customers. The airline aims to address the ongoing issues through constructive dialogue with its employees.

Over the past few days, Vistara has been compelled to cancel over 100 flights since March 30, significantly affecting its usual operation of approximately 350 flights per day. The crisis ensued after some Vistara pilots opted for sick leave as a protest against a new pay plan announced in February.

The airline attributed flight delays and cancellations to insufficient crew availability. To manage the situation effectively, Vistara has decided to reduce the number of flights temporarily, ensuring adequate connectivity across its network.

Expressing regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers, Vistara emphasized its commitment to resolving the situation promptly and minimizing inconvenience for all stakeholders.

Established through a collaboration between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, Vistara strives to maintain high standards of service and operational efficiency amidst ongoing challenges.
