DDA to Introduce Housing Scheme For 23,000 Flats In June

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is expected to introduce its housing scheme for 2023 in June, offering 23,000 newly built apartments for those from lower income groups and economically disadvantaged sections. As per the officials majority of those flats are situated in Narela. They further mentioned that the allocation of the flats will be done through a computerized draw of lots.

While interacting with Money Control, Vijender Gupta, a member of the DDA said, “The housing scheme will be launched only after it is approved in the Authority meeting. This scheme was earlier to be launched in May but this month the authority could not meet and the meeting is likely in June. So the housing scheme for 23,000 flats is now expected to be launched in June.”

The scheme will be launched following the approval and DDA will invite applicants. As for the cost of the flats, it’ll will be finalized right before the formal launch.

The price range for flats in the economically disadvantaged section of the scheme for 2022 was between Rs. 7.91 lakh and Rs. 12.42 lakh, while the price range for apartments in the lower income group category was between Rs. 18.10 lakh and Rs. 22.8 lakh.

In Narela, Dwarka, and Jasola, the DDA, the organisation in charge of managing the city’s land and housing development, has an inventory of about 40,000 unsold apartments. The majority of the apartments are in Narela, in north Delhi, and are designed for the economically underprivileged section.

According to officials, the main reason why 16,000 of those apartments have not been rented out is a lack of adequate infrastructure and connectivity. The DDA implemented strategies like road building and infrastructure improvement to draw customers. Additionally, it made it easier to build the metro corridor on the Rithala-Bawana-Narela section, which should improve connectivity and aid in the sale of these apartments, according to officials. They claimed that even if a person or a member of their family already owns a flat or a plot of land in Delhi, the DDA might still permit them to apply for a flat.
