AWL Agri Business on Tuesday announced its highest-ever first-quarter revenue at Rs 17,059 crore for FY26, marking a 21% rise compared to the same period last year.

The company attributed the growth primarily to its edible oil segment, which recorded a 26% year-on-year increase in revenue. This segment contributed ₹13,415 crore, accounting for 78.6% of the total revenue and 61% of the overall volume mix.

The Food and FMCG division also witnessed growth, with revenue rising 4% to Rs 1,414 crore. While it made up just 8% of the revenue, it contributed 16% to the total volume mix.

The company implemented price hikes in this category during the quarter.

AWL’s industry essentials segment grew 12%, contributing 12% to overall revenue, the company noted.

The firm continues to build its Food & FMCG portfolio by deploying cash flows from its profitable edible oil operations, a strategy likened to ITC’s model of funding FMCG growth through cigarette business profits.

The edible oil business generates annual cash flows between Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,500 crore, which are reinvested in emerging categories.

To enhance its retail footprint, AWL expanded its coverage by 18%, reaching 8.7 lakh outlets across India. This includes nearly 55,000 rural towns — a tenfold increase since FY22.

Despite the strong top-line performance, AWL’s net profit for the quarter dropped to Rs 238 crore.

The decline was primarily due to a 25% jump in the cost of goods sold (COGS), which surpassed revenue growth.

However, the company expects future quarters to benefit from a recent correction of over 10% in raw material prices.

AWL shares ended Tuesday at Rs 263 apiece, reflecting a valuation of 30 times trailing 12-month earnings, the lowest multiple in three years.
