In response to the overwhelming success of its retail stores in Mumbai and Delhi, Apple has announced plans to open additional exclusive stores across India, capitalizing on a significant rise in both domestic sales and export figures.

New stores are likely to launch in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai, but the company has yet to determine specific timelines for these openings.

Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating, “We are inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country, and we look forward to building our teams as we plan to open more stores in India.”

She highlighted the stores as exceptional venues where customers can experience the magic of Apple and emphasized the importance of strengthening connections with Indian consumers.

O’Brien added, “We can’t wait for them to have even more opportunities to discover and shop for our amazing products and services, and connect with our extraordinary, knowledgable team members.”

Apple Manufactures Entire iPhone 16 Lineup In India

In a strategic move, Apple is now manufacturing its entire iPhone 16 lineup, including the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, in India.

These models will soon be available for local customers and for export to select international markets.

Currently, Apple operates branded retail stores in Saket, Delhi, and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.

The expansion aligns with Apple’s broader strategy to increase its manufacturing footprint in India, particularly for exporting the iPhone 16 and Pro models to various countries.

The company’s growth in India has significantly bolstered by the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, which has driven iPhone exports from India to surpass $5 billion from April to August in the current fiscal year, marking over a 50% increase compared to the same period last year.

Total iPhone exports from India skyrocketed to $12.1 billion in the 2023-24 fiscal year, a substantial rise from $6.27 billion in 2022-23.

Overall, Apple’s operations in India generated a remarkable $23.5 billion in revenue during the last fiscal year.

Looking ahead, Apple’s revenues in India are likely to increase by 18% year-on-year in 2024.

With nearly 10 million iPhones sold in India last year—the highest ever – the company expects this figure to exceed 13 million units in the coming year.
