Apple Eyes Record iPhone Sales In India With iPhone 17 Launch

Apple’s iPhone 17 launch, festive demand, and pricing strategy set to drive record shipments and revenue growth in India this year.

iPhone Sales In India With iPhone 17 Launch

Apple is set to post its best year in India, with iPhone shipments expected to jump 25% to 14-15 million units in 2025.

Industry executives say discounts on older models and sharper pricing for the new iPhone 17 series are fueling the surge.

Festive Season Boost and Affordable Pricing

The iPhone 17, launched on Tuesday, comes just ahead of India’s festive season, the most crucial period for consumer spending.

Its starting price is ₹82,900, slightly higher than the iPhone 16, but Apple has dropped the 128GB version.

All iPhone 17 models now begin with 256GB storage, priced below last year’s comparable model at ₹89,900.

IDC estimates shipments touched 6-7 million units in January-June, with another 4-5 million expected between July and October. That compares with 12 million iPhones sold in 2024.

Canalys forecasts shipments will reach 14.2 million this year, while Counterpoint Research projects 18-19% growth, giving Apple nearly 8% market share in India.

Revenue Growth and Premium Market Push

Apple’s wholesale revenue from iPhones is expected to rise to $12.3 billion in 2025, up from $11.2 billion last year.

Analysts say the company will focus on driving upgrades to Pro models while boosting sales of accessories like AirPods, iPads, and Watches.

India’s current attach rate is just 5%, far below the global average of 37%, highlighting major growth potential.

The iPhone 16 was the top-selling smartphone in India in early 2025, making up 4% of total shipments. The premium segment ($600–800) grew nearly 97%, with iPhone 15 and 16 models capturing over 60% of sales.

Experts believe affordability schemes and Apple’s strong brand appeal will keep demand rising.
