Anant Ambani, Executive Director, Reliance Industries Limited and Founder, Vantara, reaffirmed his commitment to India’s spiritual heritage through substantial donations to prominent temples in Kerala. He contributed ₹6 crore collectively to the revered Guruvayur Temple and Rajarajeshwaram Temple, allocating ₹3 crore to each institution.
In addition, Anant Ambani pledged ₹12 crore for the restoration of the historic East Gopuram at Rajarajeshwaram Temple.
The structure, considered architecturally and culturally significant, has remained in disrepair for centuries. The restoration aims to preserve its heritage while improving infrastructure for devotees.
During his visit, Anant Ambani performed traditional rituals, including Ponnumkudam, Pattam, Thaali, and Neyyamrutu, along with the sacred Ashwamedha Namaskaram.
Temple authorities accorded him a ceremonial welcome, reflecting the importance of the occasion.
At Guruvayur, he extended his contribution beyond financial donations by supporting elephant welfare initiatives. These include plans for a dedicated elephant hospital, chain-free shelters, and modern care facilities.
The initiative aligns with his broader conservation efforts through Vantara.
Anant Ambani emphasised that temples serve as living institutions fostering faith, community, and compassion. He noted the importance of preserving these traditions for future generations while ensuring ethical treatment of animals associated with temple practices.
The initiative highlights a blend of philanthropy, cultural preservation, and ecological responsibility. It also reinforces the growing role of private contributions in strengthening India’s spiritual and heritage infrastructure.
