Anant Ambani, Executive Director, Reliance Industries Limited and Founder, Vantara, announced the establishment of Vantara University in Jamnagar. The initiative aims to strengthen global wildlife conservation through structured education, advanced research, and specialised training programmes.
The proposed institution will build upon the foundation of Vantara, a large-scale rescue and rehabilitation centre for animals.
The facility currently shelters thousands of animals and promotes ecological balance through scientific care and conservation practices.
Anant Ambani emphasised that the university will focus on developing skilled professionals in biodiversity conservation, veterinary sciences, and environmental sustainability. He highlighted the need for dedicated academic platforms to address global ecological challenges and protect endangered species.
The university will integrate academic learning with practical exposure.
Students and researchers will gain hands-on experience through Vantara’s existing infrastructure. This includes wildlife rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation programmes, which serve as a living laboratory for conservation studies.
The initiative also aims to collaborate with international institutions and experts. It seeks to position India as a global hub for wildlife research and conservation excellence.
Anant Ambani underscored that education, innovation, and compassion must work together to ensure long-term ecological preservation.
The announcement reflects a broader vision of combining industrial progress with environmental responsibility. It also reinforces Jamnagar’s growing importance as a centre for sustainability-driven initiatives.
The project signifies a forward-looking approach to conservation. It aligns with global efforts to safeguard biodiversity while nurturing future leaders in environmental stewardship.
