Ajay Bhutoria Calls Dismissal Of Charges Against Gautam Adani A Major Legal Victory

Indian-American community leader and former presidential adviser Ajay Bhutoria has described the dismissal of criminal charges against Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani as a major legal victory and a turning point in India-US economic relations.

In a statement issued from Silicon Valley, Bhutoria said the US Department of Justice’s decision to permanently dismiss the charges against the Gautam Adanis marked a significant development for the Adani Group and strengthened confidence in the broader India-US economic partnership. He said the outcome followed an extensive review by US authorities and reflected the inability of prosecutors to sustain the allegations against the company executives.

Bhutoria also referred to parallel civil settlements involving Adani Enterprises, including a settlement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and a 275 million dollar resolution related to a historical Treasury investigation concerning LPG imports.

According to Bhutoria, the closure of the legal proceedings removed a major obstacle and reinforced confidence in Indian companies operating globally. He described Adani Group’s proposed 10 billion dollar investment in the United States as a ‘game-changer’ for American infrastructure and technology development.

Bhutoria said the proposed investment could create around 15,000 direct jobs and strengthen US infrastructure, clean energy and technology networks. He added that the move reinforces investor confidence and further strengthens the India-US strategic partnership.

Bhutoria, a former adviser to Joe Biden, has actively supported stronger India-US ties.
