Air India and Sabre Sign Ink a Multi-Year Deal for Global access to Seats and Fares

Air India, one of the top airlines in India and a member of Star Alliance, and Sabre Corporation, one of the top software and technology providers that powers the global travel industry, announced a new multi-year agreement today. The agreement enables travel agents and corporations all over the world to access Air India fares and seats through Sabre’s extensive global travel marketplace.

Air India is moving forward with its ambitious development plans after placing the largest aircraft order in aviation history for 470 aircraft. Along with Sabre’s distribution services, Air India is making use of its consulting experience to find the best routes for its old and new fleets. Additionally, this action will support Air India in developing network plans that are ideal for its current and future fleet. Sabre’s consulting experience is being used by Air India to help choose the best routes for both its new and existing fleet.

Tata’s acquisition of Air India from the government aims to develop it into a “world-class global airline with an Indian heart” through a multi-stage transformation strategy. The flag carrier is upgrading its consumer proposition and increasing operational dependability in addition to expanding its fleet and network. The airline declared earlier this month that Vihaan.AI, its five-year transformation strategy, has reached its first phase of completion. The initial stage of the airline’s transformation path concentrated on dealing with legacy challenges and setting the stage for the future.

Moreover, Air India’s statement that it would modernise its digital infrastructure with the use of chatbots powered by artificial intelligence and other initiatives, together with a $200 million first investment, led to Sabre’s new contract with Air India. The second phase, which the airline refers to as the “Take-off” chapter, is now in progress. Based on the momentum created in the first phase, this phase will concentrate on creating the best platforms and moving more quickly. The development of a top-notch training academy and the unification of all four airlines under one roof are both likely to occur in the second phase.
